Note: If your machine is off campus, Global Protect VPN needs to be connected to access UNBC printers.
Note: First time Ricoh driver install may ask for admin credentials. If you are presented with admin credentials prompt, please submit a ticket to support@unbc.ca.
Windows OS Devices:
Method 1
- Open the Run box by pressing Windows key + R
- Enter \\printserver.unbc.ca in the box, and press enter
- Locate the printer you want in the list
- Right-click the printer and select Connect...
Method 2
- Search for Printers & scanners, click to open
- Click Add Device, then Add manually
- Choose the option Select a shared printer by name
- Enter \\printserver.unbc.ca\<printername> , IE: \\printserver.unbc.ca\prt502
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Set as default or not
- Click Finish
The printer should now be available for use.
Mac OS Devices:
Open System Settings → Printers and Scanners
- Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax ....
- Select IP from the top three icons.
- In the Address field: printserver.unbc.ca.
- Protocol field: Line Printer Daemon - LPD.
- Queue: add the name of the print queue (ie: prt701).
- Name field: add the name of the print queue (ie: prt701).
- Location field: Type the name of the room the printer is located in (Optional)
- Use: Change from Auto Select to the correct Ricoh print driver.
- Click on Add.
- You may want to make this printer the default by selecting the Default Printer option after the printer has been added.
The printer should now be available for use.
