Making a Long Distance Call

Long Distance Call within Canada

Using Desk Phone

1. Press the Line button or Speakerphone button to get a dial tone
2. Dial 9 and the number you want to reach ( 9 + 1 + area code + phone number )
   • For example, 9 1 604 331 3603
3. After a brief pause you will hear a short tone then silence, at which time your desk phone will prompt you to enter your account
4. Enter your six-digit Long Distance authcode, followed by the pound key #
   • For example 123456 #
5. Your number will be dialed by the system, after a brief pause.

Using Soft Phone (Avaya Workplace)

Please note that the soft phone client will not prompt in a visual way for the long distance code, it will only have a brief tone and silence.

1. Enter the number you wish to call ( 9 + 1 + area code + phone number ), then press the Call button (phone receiver shape)
2. After you hear a beep, enter your six-digit Long Distance authcode, followed by the pound key #
   • For example 123456 #
   • Do not press Enter
3. Your number will be dialed by the system, after a brief pause.

From Terrace Extensions (No LD code required)

1. Press the Line button or Speakerphone button to get a dial tone
2. Dial 9 and the number you want to reach ( 9 + 1 + area code + phone number )
3. Your number will be dialed by the system, after a brief pause.

Long Distance Call International

To Call an International Number from your Avaya Deskphone:

1. Dial 9 for outside line, then 011
   • 011 is the international prefix that is used to dial somewhere outside of canada
   • For example, 44 is the international code used to dial to United Kingdom: 9 + 011 + 44 114 2329437
2. After dialing the full number, you will be prompted to enter your Long Distance Authcode (see instructions above)
3. Once your valid Long Distance authcode has been entered, your call will go through.
