Microsoft announced that Teams for Education was re-designed with a focus on speed, performance, and flexibility. As of November 30th, ITS will be rolling out the new Microsoft Teams to the UNBC community.
If you miss the initial prompt, you can also select the "Try the new Teams" toggle situated in the upper-left corner of the old Teams application to experiment with new Teams. After switching, you can resume where you left off.
Important Note: From January 2024 onwards, Microsoft will set “New Teams” as the default for all users.
The toggle for the New Microsoft Teams isn't showing up?
If you do not receive the prompt for 'try the new teams', please clear your teams desktop client cache.
I received an error when trying to switch to the New Microsoft Teams?
If you receive the following error, please clear your teams desktop client cache.
How can I change it back to Microsoft Teams Classic?
To switch back to Teams Classic, click on the 3 dots on the upper right hand corner of your teams application.
Important Note: You can move between classic and the new teams until January 2024.
